About Our Hop Yard

We are officially certified by the British Hop Association as the first Organic hop farm in the North of England and the first official hop yard in Derbyshire, how cool is that?! With this exciting news the hop yard will be expanded this year in order to fulfil the demand for our organic hop cones to be used both in consumable and decorative purposes. Harvest time is late summer so these won’t be available to purchase until then but we have a great variety of hops available so please get In touch if you are interested in purchasing our hops.

Ornamental Hops

Dried hop garlands are the perfect way to bring a rustic and cozy charm to your home or venue. Bring a traditional floral decorative element inside and make the perfect natural and charming floral statement at weddings, pubs and restaurants. These garlands will release a lovely fragrance and can last up to a year when cared for properly. Our ornamental hops are hand lovingly grown on the farm from Golden Tassel hops which are known for their magnificent golden - bronze foliage towards the end of the summer/ start of autumn and will be available to purchase at harvest.

Hop Leaf Confetti

Traditionally ‘confetti’ was made using seeds and grains and was used at weddings as a symbol of fertility and prosperity. However, over the years plastic confetti became more popular and on ‘trend’. Not only is this extremely harmful to the environment but it can also take hundreds of years degrade. Here at Thornsett Brewery & Hop yard we want to let nature do the talking and create something that is natural, 100% bio-degradable and paid homage to the hops. The beauty of using the dried hop leaves as confetti is not only do they look beautiful when thrown, it adds a real rustic element. With outdoor barn style weddings becoming increasingly popular, using these along side our wonderful fresh hop garlands is the perfect way to make you stand out from the crowd. These are available to purchase all year round for any occasion and you can either keep it simple and let the hops do the talking or you can chose a stunning hop and wild flower combination that will be completely unique and different each time.
